Benihime - Crimson Princess by JonsProjects Benihime - Crimson Princess by JonsProjects
It's been a long time coming, but I've finally finished Benihime.
It's made primarily from plywood and balsa wood, with red cord for the knot, red string for the tassle and craft foam for the detail as the bottom of the hilt.
Painted with a combination of spray paint and enamel paint, and finished off with spray on clear varnish.

I'd like to thank Nic from studiohybrid.org [link] and :iconchioky: for ideas and advice.

The anime Bleach, has a large assortment of swords named "Zanpakuto" and my personal favoruite has always been "Benihime" literally "Crimson Princess" wielded by the character Kisuke Urahara. So when I first heard news that Awaken-Benihime was constructing the sword I was very excited.

When he finnally uploaded the sword my eyes widened in awe. It was like looking at an aurora borealis, you only see somthing this amazing once in awhile. The details were stunning and were all expertly placed with carefull skill. The proportion is well thought out and the overall quality of the sword is very clean.

Of course the only critque I have is that there is no sign of tsukamki. Of course since he was following tutorials on the construction of benihime perfectly this is to be expected. I had the pleasure to hold this sword when I met him in person, and I knew that the construction was flawless and this was one of the best handmade Benihime's I have ever seen. This sword will be known as the first step forward in his spectacular swordmaking future.

Hi, your sword is amazing!! We're also making a Benihime, and we wanted to know how did you do the triangular-shaped string. Which material did you use? How are the pieces assembled together?

Thank you!

Ah it's beautiful. I want to use the plans from that site as well. I just want to do one thing different however. I want to get tsuka-ito for the handle and wrap it. Beautiful. Very beautiful.
